Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is dentistry that's undetectable. When a tooth is badly broken, decayed, or worn — seemingly beyond repair — a porcelain or porcelain-on-gold crown can make it look and function like new again.
Crowns are one of the most reliable techniques in dentistry for repairing severe dental problems, and it's usual for these restorations to last 20 to 30 years — about as close to permanent as dental treatment gets. Crowns also anchor dental bridges and top off dental implants, and they're the standard way to protect a tooth after root canal treatment.
Benefits of Dental Crowns
- Restores badly broken, decayed, or misshapen teeth
- Looks completely natural — matched to your surrounding teeth
- Fixes both smile appearance and functional chewing problems
- Typically lasts 20 to 30 years
How long does it take to fit a dental crown?
Fitting a crown requires at least two visits. At the first, we remove any decay, shape the tooth, and fit a temporary crown to protect it. At the second visit, the temporary is removed and the final crown is fitted, adjusted for a precise bite, and cemented into place — leaving you with a beautiful new tooth.
Recovery & Aftercare
While wearing a temporary crown, avoid sticky and hard foods and chew on the opposite side when possible; if the temporary comes off, call us at once and save it so we can re-cement it. Some temperature sensitivity after each visit is normal and fades within a few weeks of the final crown being placed. Long term, brush, floss (pulling floss out sideways around temporaries), and keep up regular cleanings.
Cost & Financing
Crown cost depends on the material and the tooth being treated. Because crowns are restorative rather than cosmetic, most dental insurance plans cover a significant portion. We'll verify your benefits and give you an exact figure before starting.
Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements are made in advance — we accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. See our financial policy for details.
